I love my India! I love my India!

Hello moms and dads of babies my age … hmmm … I think you should go brew yourself some coffee; I’ll wait. If your li’l one has kept you up as many nights as I’ve kept my folks up, I’m sure you’ll need a cup or three.

Aha … good to see you’re back again and it’s even gooder (wait a minute, is that a word? Mr Trump says it is … cool!) to see that the coffee has been a real eye-opener.

So like I was saying, I love my India. My Mom and Dad do as well. I’m their ‘Make In India’ moment. But that isn’t the only reason for this love. I dig India coz we really, really know how to party here. (A confession: I am a bit of a party pooper. Whenever we are at a party, I poop. I guess it’s all those people tickling my tummy!) Like take this month for example. It’s been like one non-stop party.

It all started with Ganpati Bappa Morya! They say elephants don’t forget; well us babies don’t forget elephants either.

Then as those nine days came to an end, Navratri began. For once, my mom didn’t blame me for keeping her awake at night. It was all that Dandiya Raas and Pandal Hopping.

Just the other day we had a big pooja at chachis’s place. All my cousins were there but they didn’t play with me as much as they usually do. They were too busy teaching adults how to make their selfies look better – this app to remove your wrinkles, that app to remove 5 kilos from your waist! What a waste!

But the silver-hairs and golden-oldies just couldn’t get enough of me. They coddled me and pampered me and tickled me pink. And they gave me lots and lots of moolah. All concealed in festive envelopes in bright reds and vibrant oranges. Come to think of it I like the envelopes more than the money inside. At least I can play with them.

Ok, ok, mom, I’m sorry, I didn’t really mean that.

Actually, I have a really bright idea. Mom, why don’t you use the money that I earned with all my hard work on some of these things. Don’t smirk. I really did have to work hard to earn all that money. Smiling when I’d rather be snoozing, looking cute even when I was feeling queasy, moving my foot in tune to Didi’s newest songs (I guess they were Just-in) and being a selfless participant in hundreds of selfies does qualify as hard work, doesn’t it?

Let’s get back to my favourite topic: Me.

Mom, can you please spend the money ‘we’ earned on this:

By the way I just realised that it’s Dussehra time as well. So Happy Dussehra everybody! You know, I often hear mum complaining to dad that the sleepless nights I give here leave her with a headache. At least she gets only one headache. Imagine what that Ravana’s kids must have given him? 10, 10 headaches!

Bye. Got to go. I’m feeling hungry! Or should I say Ravanous!
